About the Founder
Hi, I'm Ivana Zecar.
- High school junior
- Founder, Her Finance World
- EN · ES · SR

I speak three languages — English, Spanish, and Serbian — and grew up bouncing between two cultures that honestly don't interact that much: Eastern European and Hispanic. It gets interesting sometimes.
Being in between those worlds taught me something pretty basic but kind of important: the exact same situation can look totally different depending on where you're from, what passport you have, and whether anyone ever thought you should care about money. (A lot of people don't, by the way.)
I'm someone who genuinely likes talking to people — I like stories, I like figuring things out, and I like being helpful if I can. The more I read about how women get pushed to the side in financial stuff, the more I felt like I needed somewhere to put all of it. Her Finance World is basically that place.
Right now it's mostly just me, my laptop, and way too many tabs open. I hope it grows into something bigger — so if any of this clicks with you, or you have a story that needs telling, hit me up.
What drives this
Three things I actually believe.
Curiosity beats credentials.
I don't have a finance degree. What I do have is time, WiFi, and this stubborn idea that if something actually matters, you should be allowed to learn about it without asking permission. That's kind of the whole point of this project — you don't need a diploma to start asking better questions.
Stories hit harder than stats.
The numbers about the gender wealth gap are insane, but let's be real — numbers are easy to scroll past. Give someone a name, a neighborhood, a specific thing someone had to deal with, and it's way harder to look away. Everything on this site starts with real people.
Small can still matter.
Her Finance World isn't a company or a nonprofit. It's literally one person with a lot of opinions and a lot left to learn. But that's kind of the point — being small means I can be honest, move fast, and make something that feels like an actual human made it.
How this started
From dinner-table talk to a website I couldn't stop working on.
It started at dinner with my family. My parents were talking about someone they knew — a woman who built a business, raised kids, and somehow never had a bank account in her own name. I asked why. The answer was complicated and honestly pretty unfair.
I kept asking after that. About inheritance laws in random countries, about why women are way more likely to be unbanked, about the moms and daughters I saw dealing with systems that weren't really built for them. Eventually I realized I was collecting answers that deserved a bigger audience than just my kitchen.
So I built the site. I taught myself enough web design to make it look decent. I started reaching out to women in finance — some said yes, some ghosted me, and every single conversation taught me something I didn't know before.
Where this is going
Eventually I want Her Finance World to be a place where young women — not just me — are writing their own stuff, doing interviews, and sharing stories.
The dream is a small network of people who actually care: students, young professionals, anyone who's looked at finance and noticed who's missing from the room. For now I'm just building the foundation — one story, one interview, one way too long caption at a time.
